Kangana’s ‘Emergency’ faces a no-entry in Bangladesh
Kangana Ranaut’s directorial venture Emergency, which unpacks India’s turbulent political phase during Indira Gandhi’s rule, has been banned in Bangladesh ahead of its January 17 release. The political thriller, featuring pivotal performances from Anupam Kher and Shreyas Talpade, explores key historical events, including the assassination of Bangladesh’s founding leader, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. While India’s role in Bangladesh’s liberation from Pakistan is acknowledged, the ongoing political strain between the nations reportedly triggered the ban. Despite these challenges, Ranaut’s Emergency promises a riveting dive into a controversial era that shaped South Asian geopolitics.
