KJ Apa and Isabel May cast in DC’s Wonder Twins
Riverdale star, KJ Apa, and 1883 actress, Isabel May, have been cast to play the lead roles in DC’s Wonder Twins. The movie will be based on the alien siblings Zan and Jayna who first appeared in the 1970 Hannah-Barbara cartoon The All-New SuperFriends Hour. The film will be written and directed by Adam Sztykiel, the screenwriter for Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s upcoming DC anti-hero film, Black Adam.
Jon Batiste to make acting debut
Grammy-award winning musician Jon Batiste is set to make his feature film debut as an actor in the upcoming film, The Color Purple. He will be joined by Fantasia Barrino, Colman Domingo, and Taraji P. Henson, and the film will be produced by Warner Brothers. It is based on a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Alice Walker, which was adapted into a Tony award-winning Broadway musical and a 1985 film by Steven Spielberg.
Zoya Akhtar's The Archies begins production
Zoya Akhtar's highly anticipated film, The Archies, starring Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, and Agastya Nanda, has begun production. The film is an Indian adaptation of the Archie Comics. Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan's grandson, Nanda, will play the lead role of Archie, Boney Kapoor and Sridevi’s daughter, Khushi, will essay the role of Betty, while Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan's daughter, Suhana, will portray the role of Veronica. The film is set to release on Netflix.
Dev Patel directorial Monkey Man’s patchwork shoot in India
Dev Patel, who was last seen in Hotel Mumbai, is making his directorial debut with Monkey Man. As per reports, the cast and crew of the film are in India to complete the film’s patchwork shoot. The film is an action thriller set in India and stars Dev Patel, Sharlto Copley, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Sikandar Kher in important roles. The rights to the film have been acquired by Netflix.
Rowan Atkinson set to make OTT debut
Rowan Atkinson, who is best known for his role as Mr Bean, will make his OTT debut with Man Vs Bee. The series, created by Atkinson and Will Davies, will be released on Netflix on 24 June. In the series, Atkinson indulges in a battle with a bee while he housesits a mansion.
Robbie Amell and Meng'er Zhang roped in for third season of The Witcher
The Witcher has added Upload star Robbie Amell and Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings actor Meng’er Zhang to its cast for the third season of the show. Amell plays a fighter named Gallatin, while Zhang is a human adopted by the dryads of Brokilon Forest, Milva. The first two seasons of The Witcher, starring Henry Cavil, Freya Allan, Anya Chalotra, and Joey Batey, are available to stream on Netflix.
